Who is this FREE Journal for?

Any writer who wants to:

  • write a grief or loss narrative but is struggling to get through a draft (or even get started)

  • experience the healing power of personal narrative without being held back by fear

  • explore difficult vulnerable material with self-care and an empowered mindset

Hi! I’m Nicole…

Nicole

I help brave truth-tellers write unforgettable creative nonfiction.

I began writing CNF (also known as personal essays or short-form memoir) in 2014 when I took a course on the lyric essay.

By experimenting with form and structure, I began to unlock my most raw, vulnerable stories. I hadn’t realized how profoundly unprocessed grief had impacted me and my life in significant ways until I was finally able to get my stories on the page.

Once I realized the secret to crafting powerful stories was an approach that allowed me to write past my fear, everything changed.

Now, I am a:

  • multi-award winning poet and essayist
  • contributor of craft articles for Hippocampus magazine
  • memoir writing coach whose superpower is helping writers achieve their literary dreams faster than they thought possible.

After winning three creative nonfiction awards in 2016 I launched my first online course for writers. Since then my Spark Your Story programs have helped countless writers learn to craft compelling creative nonfiction and share their work with the world.

Whether your goal is to publish a collection of poems, essays, short stories, a memoir or novel, what I share in this journal is going to help you take the first step: to move past blocks and write with an empowered mindset, clarity and confidence.

XO

“Nicole enabled me to approach topics I had avoided or ignored, value my unique perceptions, build confidence as a writer, and to craft the first essays I have published.”

~ Heather Diamond, Author of Rabbit in the Moon: A Memoir
